Threats
Visitors:
- People are one of THE BIGGEST threats to the intertidal zone. Intertidal Zones are popular among people but, they can get too excited and step, crush, squeeze, and poke at organisms. - To Fix This: When you are at a beach (Intertidal zone) watch where you step, just one step and you could be crushing a life. Also, when you are looking at certain animals, Be Gentle. |
Moisture:
- There are usually two high tides and two low tides each day. Depending on the time of day, different areas of the intertidal zone may be wet or dry. Organisms in this habitat must be able to adapt to any circumstance. - To Fix This: Again, don't move organisms from there natural habitat because there body may not be susceptible to them. |
Competition:
- Of course competition is going to occur in ecosystems, but this is still a threat when unwanted organisms wander into this territory. - To Fix This: Don't move animals from there natural habitat to the Intertidal Zone because it will not only cause competition, but a change in the food chain. |
